Week 13 Year 2
You (Nixie) woke up me up around 6:15 by giving me the best cuddles ever and straight away you began telling me about a dream you had about Majnoon and how you both fell into a river together but then you found a "bump" in the river and got out and then the two of you went on an adventure, you told me you missed him. By this point Forrest was fully awake and the two of you had cuddles on the bed and when it was time to get up and change him you asked if you could help by taking off his nappy, you are such a wonderful little helper.
We put Forrest into his jumparoo (he's really enjoying it more and more) and you and I could play with your magnets you are really into making pyramids lately which led to us to get out our Atlas and look at Egypt which led us to watch some videos about the pyramids and your eyes widened full of wonder when you learned they are filled with tunnels and secret passageways. Forrest started getting upset so I had to put him in the wrap and nursed him to sleep. He seems to be awake for about an hour and a half each morning and then he sleeps again, we're getting into a rhythm now at least with his morning nap but today instead of his usual 2.5/3 hour nap he only slept for 1.
While you had breakfast and after I finished mine I made you a loom out of cardboard so that you could weave your own wall hanging. Afterwards we had to run some errands in town so I put Forrest back in the wrap thinking he'd fall asleep staright away but instead he screamed bloody murder so I put him in facing outwards and he was happy as can be. You're getting really good at scooting but I still find it a bit stressful as you don't really listen to me when I ask you to stop but I know it's because you are in your world and loving this new-found freedom. We went to Fatface first to get myself some trousers, trying them on with an attached Forrest was pretty hilarious but I managed!! You needed to wee really badly so we rushed into Nero and then onto Holland and Barret for some cashew butter and after that back to Waitrose for ingredients to make the cookies you had requested. I love how everyone loves you there, especially this one person, whenever she sees you her face just lights up and on the occasion when you aren't with she always gets disappointed not to see you. You ran ahead when we were leaving and I thought you had gone outside but I couldn't find you, I didn't know where you'd gone if you were still inside or had gone around the corner..luckily just then I saw you running towards me with a woman who had seen me looking for you, turns out you had been hiding from me behind a pillar. Next time I would prefer to know you were going to play a game of hide and seek.
I had thought you (Forrest) would have fallen asleep on our outing but you were too excited by seeing the world but as soon as we got home you were ready to and as soon as you began nursing you fell asleep almost instantly. I tried putting you down but 2 minutes later while making our lunch you woke up again so instead I put you back in the wrap.
So my craft ideas for today didn't quite go as planned. First the weaving project proved to be a bit too hard for you and you were losing interest because you were frustrated and we're getting upset so I quickly made you a new loom with just a few strands which did the trick and you were able to do it and got really excited but we didn't spend that much time doing it because you wanted to do it "tomorrow " instead so I said OK and put everything away. I was still in the mood to make something as were you so we tried to make these string chandeliers that you had been wanting to make but I hadn't realised how messy of a project it was going to be, I think from now on I should read the directions all the way through first! We ended up getting glue everywhere including your hair which you were not very impressed by! We were trying to finish just one because Forrest started getting upset (he had woken up when we were weaving, he was not in the mood to sleep today! ) but I was covered in glue so I couldn't pick him up, it ended up being a bit too stressful for my liking but did manage to finish well not really, we should had done way more layers but oh well, we shall see if it turns out, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't, I'm not sure we even had enough corn flour in the mixture! As soon as I cleaned up I picked up Forrest and he became happy and you and him had some sweet moments together before he went back into the wrap where he had boob and finally fell asleep...yet again. You had asked if you could watch Zog and the highway Rat and I said OK.
There's a little wren that's been coming into our garden and you got so excited when you saw her saying how you wished that it would come inside so that it could sit on your arm and be your friend and immediately after this you you ran into the kitchen and decided it was time to make cookies. Your favourite thing to do was to crack the egg and eat the dough and the chocolate but you did show good restraint. Seeing you roll them into little balls was so sweet because I remember just last December how you were barely managing to do that.
Afterwards we played and snuggled with Forrest, he's getting so strong and enjoying tummy time more and more. He hasn't been very happy today, not really sleeping and everytime I thought he'd fallen asleep he'd wake up screaming, and it's been a bit hard, but we've been able to keep him happy for short periods of time. You enjoyed serenading us with music. But you've also made things not the easiest doing things that don't really help with making him happy. It's been a bit of a tough day figuring out how to be there for both of you but it's still felt like a good day.
I made you dinner but had to skip eating myself so I could be with Forrest. Bath went really good, I had to wash your hair to get all the glue out and Forrest was chilled out giggling in his lounger. Even bedtime ended up pretty good, it started with Forrest screaming but he calmed down rather quickly and I read all 4 stories to the both of you and then I nursed Forrest to sleep and you laid snuggled up next to me. When I could put him down you actually had a bit of boob, it had been a very long time since you asked for it, I asked you what you liked about it and you said the milk tastes good and that it makes you relaxed, shortly after you fell asleep. I fell asleep too it must have been around 19:30
