Week 7 Year 2
I woke up at 6:30 and you (Forrest) we're stirring, a few minutes later and you had your morning boob. I've been really relishing our morning cuddles, it's definitely one of my happy places. I looked over at you sister and couldn't help but laugh at the way she was laying in bed, completely opposite to the rest of us. I also saw your daddy who was still asleep, it's a rare occurrence to see him still in bed asleep during the week but he had taken today and tomorrow off because it's our 14 year anniversary. You and I went downstairs and we checked out our frogs and I could count at least 10 of them, since our very first one that appeared on Saturday, we've been seeing more and more each day since. You have a new obsession which is to sit up on the couch, you've been given my spot and you absolutely love sitting there and having conversations, your little face one giant grin.
You (Nixie) came stumbling downstairs just after 8:00 with the sweetest morning face ever. The first thing you did was rush over to your moodometer and pointed the arrow to “loving.” I couldn't get winamp to work so I was busy dancing Forrest to sleep in the wrap to his song Real Hot via my phone, thank goodness for phones! You had your morning breakfast and then daddy came down after just after 9:00, he actually managed a lie in! The first thing you did when you saw him was rush to show him all our new frogs. While he made breakfast you did some painting, and today you wanted to paint frogs and tadpoles. But your obsession with your board game, Crazy Chefs continued so we also had to get in a quick game of it before eating.
While eating Forrest started getting upset wanting to eat too so I rushed my breakfast. While nursing him you wanted to check your sunflowers and became so excited by them that you had to bring them to show me, it's definitely time to repot them! and immediately after that you continued to do some more painting.
Afterwards it was time to begin the first Operation Freedom of the year and set some of the frogs free. This is always such an exciting time and we managed to find 10 that were ready to be released. Before heading out you really wanted to hold one, and as usual you wanted it on your face! Afterwards we headed out to the woods and found a great little spot next to a stream. We couldn't release them to where we had found them because that was a puddle that no longer existed. You had to hold each one individually and give them a kiss goodbye and on one of these occasions a little frog jumped up from your hand and landed on your lips! We all had a very good laugh over this especially you! We thanked them for their time with us and wished them a good life. They seemed so happy to be set free, we even saw one of them swim all the way across the stream. This made you so happy and you squealed with excitement. As we left that spot in search of a good place for a mini picnic we walked past a part of stream that had some loud flowing water and it sounded so beautiful to me, it was nature's music and I had to stop and take it in. You liked it too and stopped with me.
We found an old fallen tree that was the perfect spot for us to sit and for me to nurse Forrest. You had lots of fun climbing up and down part of it where the roots used to be. We stayed here for a while but things took a bit of a turn when you decided to take your boots off and refused to put them back on,if the ground wasn't covered in Holly which we were trying to protect you from and if you weren't wearing tights and we had extra clothes for you maybe we wouldn't have cared so much, in hindsight maybe we should have just let you but we asked you to put them back on and you refused, and when we kept asking you to you started getting angry and started throwing dirt so we decided that it was time to leave that spot and move on. You weren't happy about leaving but your upset only lasted for about 5 seconds until you were off exploring the woods ahead of us. You had brought your rhino and carried him around with you like a little baby, it was so very sweet. We had decided to go check out the spot we call the frog spot to see if we could find any and on the way there you had lots of fun climbing trees and listening to all the birdsong which is one of the things I love the most about this time of year.
As we approached the frog spot we got utterly and ridiculously stuck in the silty boggy mud, well I did! I got so stuck I couldn't get out on my own! You, daddy and Forrest had walked ahead of me and I had been so worried that you guys were going to fall or get stuck too but luckily you all made it across and also luckily daddy found some dry ground where he could lay down Forrest so he could come save me. I found the whole thing rather funny and made daddy get a photo of me stuck before helping me out, it is photo day after all! It was so incredibly hard to get out, I had to use all my strength to be able to lift my leg out, I was stuck up to my knee, I almost had to leave my welly behind! As I finally reached the other side you reached out and gave me your hand and for the rest of the way back to the car you were so proud that you had helped me get unstuck. I just love you so much. Forrest hadn't been in the happiest of moods, he was tired and only daddy seemed to have the magic touch so he carried him all the way back to the car. I had to take my leggings off before getting into the car so I wouldn't stain anything.
Once home the first thing you and I did was jump in the shower and get the silty mud and smell off while daddy cuddled Forrest. Never had a shower felt so good, I really didn't want to get out! When we came down Forrest wanted some boob and then you and daddy went to the shop to get us pizza! While that was being made, and while Forrest slept in the lounger we played a game of cheeky monkeys and you and I actually tied and this made you very happy and we had a giant hug while you shouted we both won! We both won! Yay! But Im feeling really bad for you, you have the beginnings of yet another cold, I noticed your nose was a bit runny this morning but now at the end of the day you are looking super poorly and your little voice sounds so congested. You asked for boob and I said OK, you don't really have it anymore, every so often it happens but you can easily go days without it, but since I know you're poorly I didn't want to say no. We continued to play a couple more games after dinner before it was time for your bedtime, daddy had the honours tonight of putting you to bed while I hung out with a sleeping Forrest on the couch.
