Your Arrival
I cannot believe that in a few days time you will be five months old, these past few months have felt a bit like a dream, the days seem to flow into each other with such extraordinary speed and I have been so conscious of the passing of time wanting at times for everything to stop and slow down and at other times wishing the days away. I’ve been wanting to write about your birth story for a long time but I wasn’t ready to do so until now…
The Travelling Mustard Dress
I am so excited to be a part of a really wonderful and fun collaboration with 44 other British artists and one mustard dress. Being 35 weeks pregnant, I had already decided that I was going to use this as an opportunity to create some pregnancy self-portraits, and living in the New Forest I wanted to create them using both the water and earth elements as the sea & the forest are truly my tonic, the places I go to heal or soothe my mind, body and spirit and they are also the places where I just feel the most at home…
Camping, pregnancy and transformations!
It’s been ages since I’ve written for my blog but my inspiration to do so has finally returned. we've been back just over a week now from an incredible few days camping at our home away from home, Holland's Wood. It's been a crazy few months with so many changes & transformations taking place!…
Third camping trip of the year: A week of many shifts!
We just got back from our third camping trip of the year (June 9-16) and I know I said that the last one was one of the best weeks of my life well now i’m going to say that this one was! Every new camping experience seems to be better than the last & after over a month of no camping due to having too many photography projects and editing to do, this last trip couldn’t have come soon enough…
A Week of Pure Inspiration
We arrived on the Saturday and besides just a couple of other campers we were the only ones there but by the following Monday we had the space completely to ourselves again, I just couldn't believe how perfect it all was. It's such a different experience when you can just be where you are rather than having to hike somewhere before you are not surrounded by people and there was just something so magical about being there completely on our own, we were able to feel & connect with the landscape differently, we became acquainted with everything that surrounded us such as the trees, the plants, the animals & insects in such a deeper way…
The Rising Tadpole
Watching tadpoles go through their metamorphosis into little froglets has been such an incredible experience for our family especially Nixie. It wasn't something we set out to do but on one of our walks in the woods we found lots and lots of frogspawn in a giant puddle and with the only thing we had as a container: our Costa cups, we carefully collected some of it along with another cup filled with their puddle water and brought them home with us!…
Camping season has begun!
We just had our very first camping trip of the year last week on March 22 when the campsite which had pretty much become our second home last summer opened up for the season. I haven’t had the chance to write about it until now because as soon as we got back I was inspired to create a new wall hanging, a weave using a fallen branch that I had found as my loom and now that it’s finished I can finally reminisce about our short but perfect little break away from it all…
Nixie's Snow Day Part II
I got up at 4:30 with her Sunday morning, but I didn't feel tired when she woke me & I was actually in the mood to get up... But that morning I was especially happy to be up because as we looked out into the garden it looked like a winter wonderland! Even more so than last time, I really didn't think that we'd get that much snow so I was pleasantly surprised! And what was even better was that it happened when Kevin was home…
A week of many shifts
So many shifts have happened this week. We stopped nursing during the night & it's the 5th night where I have our super king all to myself! Nixie is asleep in her own bed in her own room & Kevin hasn't come home from work yet. It is such a strange feeling, she seems so grown up, like she's jumped 4 steps ahead! And today we had an incredible adventure to Whitley Wood…
My Mother's Day Walk
A couple of days late but I really wanted to share some photos from this past Sunday. I had a really beautiful mother's day. All I wanted to do was go for a walk somewhere new and that is exactly what we did…
